Unboxing Experience

These Starter Kits require completion of Indoor IoT Services setup including compatible infrastructure.

Pre-requisites with Starter Kits: 1) Have a wireless LAN Controller: 9800-L, 9800-CL, 9800-40, or 9800-80. Recommended version 17.3.2a, minimum requirement 17.3.1 2) Catalyst 9100 Access Point setup 3) Have a Cisco Spaces account with ACT license. Sign up for free here: spaces.cisco.com

Step 1: Complete Cisco Spaces Onboarding Process & IoT Services Setup

Step 1a. Complete Cisco Spaces Onboarding

Have an account provisioned on the Cisco Spaces platform. If you don’t have an active account, please email spaces.cisco.com
Create user account – Accept invitation from Cisco Spaces & setup password
Onboard wireless network – Connect your network to Cisco Spaces by using our DIY setup guide – https://spaces.cisco.com/setupguide/configure-network/
Setup your Location Hierarchy using the best practices guide https://spaces.cisco.com/setupguide/location-hierarchy/

Step 1b. Complete IoT Services setup

Step 2: Import MAPS into Cisco Spaces

Asset Locator requires that you place your access points on maps via Cisco Prime or DNA Center and then export this map to Cisco Spaces. Exports from Prime 3.2 / DNA Center 1.3.3 or later are supported.

Note: For IoT Services, Prime 3.8 MR 1 / DNA Center 2.1.1 or later is supported

Step 3: Claim your BLE Beacons in the IoT Services section

Login to your Cisco Spaces Account http://dnaspaces.io
Select IoT Services > Device Management on the menu in the top left
Click on the Onboard Devices button
Select Floor Beacons
Enter the Order ID found on your box. This is a one-time, case-sensitive unique identifier. Use it to claim all devices that are part of your starter kit at once.
Confirm that your beacons are visible under Device Management > Floor Beacons
Write down the Beacon MAC Addresses for your Beacons to import into Asset Locator

Note: If you have access to more that one DNA-S account, please bare in mind that you can only claim your devices on one account

Step 4: Place Beacons

Place each beacon in a place you would like to monitor e.g inside a fridge or on a wall
Use double-sided tape to attach your beacons

Step 5: Activate the Asset Locator App

Login to your Cisco Spaces Account http://dnaspaces.io
Click on the Asset Locator app tile
Click on the toggle to activate the app

Step 6: Import your Beacons into Asset Locator App

Open the Asset Locator app
Select Configure > Assets on the menu in the top left
Download the .xls template by clicking on Download Template
In the template fill col ‘A’ Serial Number, col ‘B’ Asset Name, col ‘K’ Department Name, col ‘M’ Category Name, col ‘P’ Tag Type, col ‘Q’ Tag Mac Address, col ‘R’ Tag Name
Once complete, save your work
Navigate back to Asset Locator and select Upload
Configure > Assets, select the checkbox for all tags you’d like to monitor temperature, and click ‘Bulk Edit – Enable Telemetry’

Step 7: Configure Alerts and Reports According to your Business need in Asset Locator App

Open the Asset Locator app
Select Configure > Rules on the menu in the top left
Click the ‘+’ button to create a new rule
Add relevant information following the on screen steps
